The Clyde Coast Way
A four day coastal walk in South West Scotland taking in some of the most impressive scenery in the UK. Starting from Ayr it follows the coast north to Greenock
The route through the coastal towns of Prestwick, Irvine, Stevenston, Saltcoats, Ardrossan, Fairlie, Largs and Greenock is steeped in history and the views over to Arran, Cumbrae islands, Ailsa Craig, Mull, Jura and the Scottish southern Highlands are enjoyed from sea level for the majority of the way. Total length of the walk is 50 miles with a total ascent of only 500ft.
The walk is direct and easy to follow so good daily mileage is possible allowing plenty of time to enjoy the delights and take in the sights as you go. The route is mainly on recognised paths with some cycle route and minor roads. With the proximity to road and rail it is easy for the occasional or weekend walker to break this trip down in to a series of pleasant day walks

This, the Official Website, is designed to provide you with the information needed to plan, participate in and get the most out of this long distance walk. The walk is defined in detail, the site provides details on the history and general activities to be found on the route.
It is hoped to eventually expand the basic route south to begin at Culzean Castle and to provide a route from Greenock to Drymen to join the West Highland Way and Rob Roy Way.
To assist with the navigation I have recorded the GPS co-ordinates of the key waypoints as described in the walk.
